Happy start of the school year! We’re just starting Kindergarten, I can’t believe that happened so fast. If you’re making the transition from preschool or TK to Kindergarten, here are a few books to help you through.

Elbow Grease by John Cena
This book has the best message. You don’t have to be the strongest or the fastest or the smartest… if you’ve got gumption you’ll go far! Extra points for the vocabulary words (gumption is fun to try and spell when you’re five years old) and the monster truck theme.
Danbi Leads the School Parade by Anna Kim
Listen, this book is fantastic. Danbi is new at school, doesn’t speak the same language as the other kids, and definitely has different food in her lunchbox! But she’s brave and sticks with it, and by the end of the day she’s made friends and had a great time in kindergarten.
Ish by Peter H. Reynolds
When you’re not good at something the first time, it’s uncomfortable to keep going. Especially when someone calls you out. That’s true for so many things our kids are just starting… sports, reading, and in this case drawing. Ish is about a kid who isn’t the best at art, but when his sister helps him see he’s good enough, he unlocks a whole new experience. Another brilliant book by Peter H. Reynolds.
