The Book Hog – a quick review

The Book Hog has a secret, and it has to do with his favorite thing, books… 🤫

Spoiler alert! Giving the secret away below, but it’s worth being surprised! We love this book for the bright pink color palette, for the reminder of the sensory experience of books, and for the simple and super timely message for our preschooler.

This book hog loves books, but the poor dude never learned to read! Until one of the great heroes of our time, a librarian, invites him to story time. Slowly, with time and practice, Book Hog learns to read.

As we as parents experience this learning process with our four year old, the value of time and practice couldn’t be more obvious. But to the kiddo, learning to read is hard and sometimes scary or frustrating but also magical. A great book for the preschool crowd!

By Greg Pizzoli, who also wrote The Watermelon Seed.
