Let’s Get Boba is about Charlie and her grandpa, who get boba together after school every Friday. When Charlie’s friend Lucy joins them, she’s not so sure about this whole boba thing. Lucy has never had taro before isn’t keen on those bubbles. But with Charlie’s encouragement she decides to take a chance, and loves it! Of course. How can you not love boba.
This simply wonderful book by Isabella Chiu is a great for introducing kids to new experiences. This is especially important to our family right now as the pandemic drags on for our littles, who can’t get the vaccine yet and are still missing out on so many great life experiences. We can’t wait to go to boba together! And until then, this book will transport us.
We especially want to highlight this book during AAPI Heritage Month. Representation is so important. As Chiu says in the dedication, “To all the bubble tea (boba) lovers, and the little boys and girls who deserve to see characters that look like themselves in their storybooks.” YES.
Let’s Get Boba is available on Etsy. I loved it so much I bought the stickers, and am proudly displaying one on my phone as we speak!
