With grandparents and aunties and teachers and so many others getting their shots, we were stoked to read The Polio Pioneer: Dr. Jonas Salk and the Polio Vaccine.

Honestly, this book was so helpful to explain why everyone is getting vaccines, what the “shot” actually does, and why it’s so exciting that we get them. I think having so many kids in the book also helped settle the uneasiness of the unknown and paved the way for when the kiddo will get his own vaccine (hopefully those are coming soon!).
We shortened the story a bit for a bedtime book, and the full book would be great for a classroom or activity-based read. Great for 4-8 year olds.
